Bloodwood tree
noun 1.Deciduous South African tree having large odd-pinnate leaves and profuse fragrant orange-yellow flowers; yields a red juice and heavy strong durable wood. Synonyms: kiaat, Pterocarpus angolensis. 2.Spiny shrub or small tree of Central America and West Indies having bipinnate leaves and racemes of small bright yellow flowers and yielding a hard brown or brownish-red heartwood used in preparing a black dye. Synonyms: campeachy, Haematoxylum campechianum, logwood, logwood tree.
