Pandour n.

One of a class of Hungarian mountaineers serving in the Austrian army that served as local militia in Croatia; so called from Pandur, a principal town in the region from which they originally came. They were noted for their ruthlessness. (Written also pandoor) "Her whiskered pandours and her fierce hussars."

Hence: A brutal soldier.
